EUDR and sourcing from Indonesia

Indonesia is currently classified as standard risk. Palm oil, rubber, wood and other relevant supply chains therefore require careful origin, geolocation and supplier evidence.

Indonesia and EUDR-relevant supply chains

Indonesia is particularly important for palm oil, natural rubber and wood. The challenge is often not only country risk, but complex upstream sourcing through mills, processors and intermediaries.

Oil palm evidence

For palm products and derivatives, identify the relevant production origin and confirm whether an “ex” Annex I entry applies. The 2026 scope update also added certain palm-derived products with a later application date.

Rubber and wood evidence

Natural-rubber plots and wood production areas need defensible origin evidence. The manufacturing or processing facility location does not replace the production location of the relevant commodity.

Key point: Country risk affects the due-diligence pathway. It does not decide whether a product is in scope. Product scope still depends on the current Annex I CN code.

Recommended workflow

  1. Confirm the exact product and CN/HS code.
  2. Identify the relevant commodity and actual country of production.
  3. Collect production-location and supplier evidence.
  4. Validate geolocation and batch linkage.
  5. Apply the appropriate due-diligence pathway for the current country benchmark.
  6. Keep records aligned for the applicable declaration workflow.
